The latest results in Egyptology
Subscribers around the world are starting to receive their copies of the 2025 Journal of Egyptian Archaeology – it’s started arriving with UK readers and will be with other countries soon.
It includes monument studies, material studies, philology and cultural history. We have articles on imported pottery at Abydos, towers on the Roman Coptos–Myos Hormos Road, a mummification workshop… and much more.

The 2025 Journal of Egyptian Archaeology, Volume 111, is also available online!
The JEA’s editorial team has changed this year, with Eva Lange-Athinodorou taking over from Claudia Näser as Editor-in-Chief, and Suzanne Arnold replacing Stephanie Boonstra as Interim Managing Editor. Much of the work in reviewing and editing the articles in this year’s journal was done by Claudia and Stephanie, of course. Also thanks to their great efforts, assisted by the Editorial Board, the JEA has risen up the rankings of academic journals in recent years. Quality submissions and online article downloads are also high.
Looking ahead, we will continue to focus the JEA on the archaeology of Egypt, which is of ever increasing importance and has evolved into a truly interdisciplinary endeavour. Studies on the archaeology of Egypt, traditionally the journal’s core, will thus be at the heart of its future, together with innovative material studies and philological research.
Many articles are published online before the print volume appears at the end of each year, so keep an eye on the JEA web page: https://journals.sagepub.com/home/EGA. We will start copy-editing articles for Volume 112 in early 2026, so articles should start appearing online from the middle of the year onwards.
Interested in contributing to the JEA?
Volume 112 (2026) is full, and we already have several articles accepted for Volume 113 (2027). Submissions are therefore currently being considered for publication in 2027 or 2028. Please find the journal's submission guidelines here.
Not received your copy of Volume 111 yet?
