Reproduction requests and fees

Information on how to submit reproduction requests to the Egypt Exploration Society.

Reproduction requests

Requests to reproduce or disseminate images of the Society’s papyri, archive, or images published in books should be directed to the Society's archivist at [email protected].

You should attach a request form (available here) detailing your intended use of the material.

Please note that the Society does not retain copyright of images published in the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology or Egyptian Archaeology, unless it relates to the Society's own fieldwork and research.

All material under EES copyright must be credited as Courtesy of The Egypt Exploration Society. Images of papyri acquired from the Oxyrhynchus Papyri repository must be credited as Courtesy of The Egypt Exploration Society and the Faculty of Classics, University of Oxford.

In instances where the Society is required to provide or create a digital image for reproduction, a £25 (exc. VAT) supply fee will be charged - this is also applicable to non-commercial users. If an external service provider is required to digitise the material then the charge for this will be made to the individual/company making the request.

Permission will usually be granted free to non-commercial scholarly publications and academic non-profits. Charges will be made to commercial and media companies and will be discussed after the request form has been received by the Collections Manager.
