Step into the world of the pharaohs with a podcast that brings Egypt to life in ways you’ve never heard before. Hosted by Charlotte Jordan, Engagement Manager at the Egypt Exploration Society, this series blends academic expertise with lively storytelling to explore the marvels and myths that have fascinated the world for centuries.
Charlotte Jordan
Charlotte studied an Egyptology BA and MA at the University of Liverpool. Her research focused on Middle Kingdom Administration, Economy and Regionalism, translating hieroglyphic titles to trace individuals' political standing and utilising GIS to understand past motivations of elite tomb construction. During her MA studies, she found her passion for public engagement. Since then, she has been inspired by the EES mission to promote Egyptian cultural heritage.
Charlotte joined the EES as Engagement Manager in May 2021. Her primary duties include membership administration, organising our event programme, managing our communications and marketing, and supporting fundraising activities. Additionally, she is the Editor for the Egyptian Archaeology magazine, where she commissions, edits, and typesets articles. You may also recognise her from our podcast: Away with the Pharaohs! Charlotte is a firm believer that personable experiences of cultural heritage can unlock a lifelong enthusiasm in people, especially for the exciting field of Egyptology!
Drawing on the Egypt Exploration Society’s unparalleled collections and network of world-leading Egyptologists, this podcast invites you to go beyond the stereotypes and explore what ancient and medieval Egypt can teach us about power, identity, and human ingenuity. Each episode tackles a theme at the heart of Egyptian history and culture, pointing out details that you may be surprised to learn about this popular civilisation.
