The Egypt Exploration Society, the leading UK organisation supporting and promoting Egyptian cultural heritage today, invites applications for grants up to £5000 from its ASTENE Fund. While an application of up to this amount will be considered, the EES will aim to maximise the number of projects it can support.

The ASTENE Fund was made possible thanks to supporters of the Association for the Study of Travel in Egypt and the Near East which ceased to operate in February 2026, transferring their remaining assets to the Egypt Exploration Society.

The closing date for applications is 17:00 (UK) on Friday 20 March 2026. No application received after that date will be considered. Interviews will not be held; applications will be considered by the Society’s Officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer) and Senior Leadership Team in March 2026 and applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application no later than 28 March 2026. All applications, together with the required references, must be submitted electronically to: [email protected].

The Society welcomes applications to support events focusing on the the history of travel in Egypt and/or the wider SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region. Any proposed activity should follow local laws and guidelines.

The EES encourages applicants not to use AI-generated content in their application.
