Our latest collaborative training programme

Read about our new Egyptological Archives Skills School in Cairo.

In June 2022, the Egypt Exploration Society is partnering with heritage institutions in Cairo to provide a week-long Egyptological Archives Skills School. In the century following the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the role of archives has become even more important as well as providing access to them. This Skills School will introduce ten early career scholars to the fundamentals of archive management and engagement culminating in a short research project based on artefacts in the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Cairo.

We are delighted to be partnering with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, American Research Center in Egypt, and Institut français d'archéologie orientale. This Skills School is kindly supported by the British Council.

Thanks to the generosity of the British Council, following the Skills School, four participants will be awarded scholarships to visit UK cultural and heritage institutions for one month in September 2022. During their placements they will meet experts in the UK as well as conduct their own research projects in collections to provide multilingual teaching resources and a small online and physical exhibition of archival material.
