Opportunities for early career scholars
As part of our Building the Future campaign, the Egypt Exploration Society expects to close to the public from 1st April 2026 in order to decant our irreplaceable archive collections to off-site storage for the duration of the transformation. We’re committed to ensuring the safety and security of our collection while also using this opportunity to offer skills training for those wishing to work with heritage collections.
Thanks to generous donations from our supporters in 2024, we are now seeking to appoint several interns over 2026 to assist our Collections Manager (Elizabeth Owen) in cataloguing and packing parts of our archive collections. Tasks may include the creation of inventories and box-lists, rolling and packing off maps and plans, rehousing of documentary collections, and barcoding of items ready for transit. Training opportunities will be provided, and interns will become part of the EES team responsible for preparing the organisation for future development.
