EES Library and Office Closure Notice

Changes to operations in response to COVID-19

Dear Friends,

The Board of Trustees and myself have taken the difficult decision to close our Library and offices to the public for the next two weeks amid growing concerns regarding COVID-19. We will continue to monitor the situation and review our decision based on guidance from government and health authorities. The health and well-being of staff, volunteers, and supporters is our primary concern.

You, our supporters, are based all over the world. If you know EES members in your area that may require additional assistance during this time then please reach out to them. If you are facing self-isolation then you may find comfort in speaking to others passionate about Egypt’s heritage, reading some of the free digital resources on our website, or catching up on our Collection Highlights.

Staff are prepared for working remotely and can therefore answer queries by email and, if you require Library resources, then continue to check our online catalogue where links will soon be added to online resources.

In light of guidance from the British Council, all events in Egypt will be cancelled and rescheduled later in the year. If you are currently booked onto one of those events, then please await notice from Essam Nagy who will provide further details. Our website and social media feeds will soon reflect this policy.

UK events are similarly cancelled until further notice. Anyone booked onto those events will soon receive an email from me regarding your participation.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused at this time and would like to reassure you all that all other operations are being maintained in order to continue our charitable services in Egypt.

Take care,
Carl
