These events seek to celebrate Nubian diversity, agency, modernity and creativity, moving beyond the scholarly focus and public perception of Nubia as a place of archaeological treasures, lost landscapes and timeless traditions.

These Saturday evening online conversations will bring together new academic research with the perspectives and lived experiences of Nubians, whether in Sudan, Egypt or the global diaspora. A series of short talks in Arabic and English (with translations) will be followed by time for Q&A and discussion.

Recordings of the talks will be posted online to ensure those not able to attend can catch up later.

The committee welcome ideas and suggestions for future themes and speakers: [email protected].
