Funding available to support Heritage at Risk

The Society is pleased to launch its latest grants for Egyptian cultural heritage

Thanks to generous donations by supporters around the world in 2020, the Egypt Exploration Society is delighted to offer grants to support Egyptian heritage at risk in 2021-22.

Up to £15,000 will be made available through the Heritage at Risk Grants to support projects working in Egypt to record, survey, or safeguard heritage at demonstrable risk of loss or damage. The heritage at risk could be tangible (architecture, buildings, monuments, archaeological sites, etc.) or intangible (crafts, skills, oral traditions/histories, etc.). Applicants must be Egyptian nationals, and projects can be government/non-government affiliated.

For the first time ever, our grants will be facilitated in Egypt by a dedicated Grant Administrator. Fatma Keshk (above) will be responsible for identifying projects and supporting them through their application as well as the implementation of their work. Fatma will also help to let you, our generous donors, know where your funds are making a difference. She will also work with projects to write applications in either Arabic or English, making the funds available to as wide a network of projects as possible.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to the Heritage at Risk Grant appeal in 2020, your donations will have a crucial and meaningful impact over the coming months.
