EES London Office reopening roadmap

An outline of plans to make our collections available for research in 2021.

The following guidance is issued in accordance with the UK government’s plans for reopening research facilities and will be reviewed continually to ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and members which remains our primary concern.

We appreciate your patience during this period of uncertainty. Until staff have been offered vaccines, and until we are confident that safety instructions are being adhered to, we must ensure that the Society remains resilient against any threat of COVID-19. In the meantime, our busy programme of online events will continue, and we strive to answer enquiries about our collections as quickly and completely as possible. Please note that we are unable to answer research questions and or perform research on your behalf.

Phase 1: No earlier than 12th April 2021
Staff will return to the office Monday-Wednesday and will be available by phone from 10:30-16:30 on those days. If you do not reach a member of staff then leave your name, number, and message we will return your call as soon as possible.

Complete (12th April 2021)

Phase 2: No earlier than 17th May 2021
One volunteer per day will be invited back into the collections to assist with preparations for reopening to members and making more material available online.

Complete (17th May 2021)

Phase 3: No earlier than 21st June 2021
One member per day can research in the library by appointment during core hours (Monday-Wednesday, 10:30-16:30). One researcher per day can visit the archive by appointment during core hours. Face masks should be worn by visitors at all times in the premises. Guidance for visitors will be issued and strictly enforced by all staff.

Following UK Government guidance, we expect to reopen to members and researchers, following our annual summer closure, on 6 September 2021.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the collections to continue your research in due course.
