Khety I was nomarch of the Oryx Nome (administrative district) during the Middle Kingdom of ancient Egypt. His tomb, in the regional necropolis of the Nome at Beni Hasan, is one of the elaborately decorated chapels carved into the bedrock of the Eastern Desert cliffs overlooking the Nile valley below. This virtual tour illustrates the prosperity of these provinces during the First Intermediate Period and Middle Kingdom and the variety of regional styles at this time.
