The Egypt Exploration Society is delighted to announce that it will again be providing English language courses to Egyptian archaeologists and Egyptologists in 2019 thanks to the generosity of our colleagues at the British Council.

We will be offering ten places on courses provided by the British Council during four months from January 2019. Applications are being accepted now (download form below). Four places will be restricted to employees of the Ministry of Antiquities but the others will be open to all.

The courses will be held in the premises of the British Council in Agouza, Cairo. The successful candidates will be required to undergo a test to determine their current level of competence so that they can be assigned to the appropriate course. The test can be taken at either the Agouza or Heliopolis branches of the Council.

We intend to award the places in open competition to those whose work in archaeology or Egyptology and would benefit most from an improvement in their English language skills. Applicants should complete the form below and return it with a letter of recommendation from a tutor or supervisor by e-mail to our Cairo office: [email protected]
