Carl completed his PhD at the University of Birmingham in 2017 on the topic of cultural landscapes of Middle Egypt during the Middle Kingdom with a particular focus on the necropolis of Beni Hassan. During his time in Birmingham, Carl was also the Postgraduate Curator of the Eton College William Joseph Myers Collection of Egyptian Art and a co-founder of Birmingham Egyptology. 

Carl has worked at the Egypt Exploration Society since 2013 and currently leads on communications with our international community supporters, fundraising, and organising our programme of educational training events.

In 2018, Carl will launch the EES Local Ambassador Programme and be co-organising the Society's Fourth British Egyptology Congress with the University of Manchester.
