This talk focuses on a unique annually recurring activity called The Museum of Lies as part of a wider project of literal and cultural (re-)discovery of underused ancient Egyptian artefacts kept in Cyfarthfa Castle Museum, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales (UK).

Inspired by the archaeological object, artists, poets, craftsmen and pupils studying either art as A-level subject or getting acquainted with the skill of writing short-stories, are creating alternative narratives which are exhibited together with the objects and their academic descriptions in annual pop-up exhibitions. All narratives together allow to write a full object biography via different media (academic outputs, exhibitions, story-telling, and the Museum of Lies) for different audiences.

Join Dr Katharina Zinn (University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Lampeter) as she introduces us to the Museum of Lies and their annual pop-up exhibitions.
