In order to reach the afterlife in ancient Egypt it was important that certain rites were performed by the living and that the deceased had certain divine knowledge. Having reached the afterlife it was important for the dead to be provided for. We will explore the rituals of transformation, the special knowledge needed by the deceased and the means of providing for the dead. We will also briefly look at what Egyptian heaven might have looked like. ‘Will heaven be like Swansea?’.
