Buhen, one of the largest Egyptian Middle Kingdom fortresses on the Nubian Nile was submerged beneath the rising waters of Lake Nasser in 1964 following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Though the remains are now lost to archaeology, the archives of the EES excavations from 1957-64 remain. Maria will discuss her project to scan the images in this archive and some of the artefacts now on display in the Petrie Museum.

All lectures are free and there is no need to book in advance.
