Four of the current Trustees (Dr Aidan Dodson, Ms Lucia Gahlin, Dr Robert Morkot and Dr Joanne Rowland) have volunteered to retire at the Annual General Meeting on 12 December 2009, and Ms Alexandra Whittaker resigned from the Board of Trustees on 13 July 2009.
There will thus be five vacancies to be filled at the AGM and, following the call for prospective Trustees sent in the Spring mailing, the Board is recommending the following members for election: Mr George Hart, Mr John Johnston, Mr Robert Lee, Mr Michael Murphy and Ms Judi Sykes. A brief biography of each can be downloaded here.
As the Society’s Chair, Dr Ian Shaw, explained in his letter of November 2008 (included with the papers for the 2008 EGM/AGM), members now have an additional opportunity to put themselves forward for election in competition with the members nominated by the Board. Any member who wishes to stand for election for one of the five vacant places is invited to contact the Society’s Director, Dr Patricia Spencer, and request an application-form and the Society’s electronic ‘information pack’ for prospective Trustees. Completed applications must be received by 30 September 2009 so that all candidates can be listed in the notice of the AGM to be mailed to members in the Autumn.
